I don't have the energy, patience, or brain to go into circling conversations about murder that lead to nowhere.

No, such conversations aren't for everyone, I suppose. It was easier to know what would or wouldn't take someone's interests when-- well. No, I believe most people would prefer me not rifling through their mind for interesting topics of conversation.

[ he doesn't attempt to appear sorry, he knows trevor wouldn't believe it. but he makes his smile a little less enthused. ]

Most people don't like others rifling through their minds regardless of who it is.

[He gives a quick nod goodbye and shuts the communicator off. Trevor is not pleased that the door is going to be open because it means a second chance for a murder conversation ambush, but twenty minutes later he's there with the milk, regardless]

[ if Tervor knocks he'll be invited in, and when he enters he'll find Elias is sitting writing at his desk. the room is small, with a plush and ornate carpet and walls covered in old-fashioned bookcases.

Elias looks up, then stands to greet him properly. ]

I haven't a fridge, so feel free to set it down wherever there's space. Not on any books or papers, if you don't mind.

[Trevor, the lone non-academic in a sea of them, picks his way through books and papers carefully and with learned practice. He rolls his eyes a little and finds a place for the milk bottle.]

You seem to be moving around all right, for a man who was dead.

[ whether it was meant as a compliment or not, elias takes it as one. he's trying very hard to make it seems like he's fine and not suffering the after-effects of death

so he responds with an almost genuine smile ]
