[ true to his word, Elias arrives on time and proceeds to let himself in. any feelings of apprehension are being thoroughly quashed, because there's really no point to them. either enough time has passed for Dorian to be willing to tolerate his company again, or Dorian has invited him over to bitch at him. Elias can deal with either of those.

He's familiar with Dorian's quarters, heading to where he expects him to be-- ]

Mmm, flattery will get you nowhere.

[ except it very obviously gets him somewhere. Dorian preens at the compliment. He's in the kitchen, mixing up a few cocktails-gin sours today. And he seems... relatively in a good mood. Or at least, he seems like he won't bitch at Elias. ]

We're drinking gin tonight.

We are? I suppose you're within your rights to dictate that.

[ that's neither an overt apology nor an outright admission of yes I fucked you over to hurt a friend of yours and also other people. he doesn't look sheepish or apologetic.

We are, [ Dorian nods. He knows that they both know Elias fucked Dorian over. And yet here they are, in Dorian's room, with him making cocktails for the both of them.

Honestly, Dorian doesn't know why he does these things. He just...does. He still wants Elias's company.

As he goes to grab the gin, Elias can see some of the other liquor bottles in his liquor cabinet. One of them is the small bottle of whiskey that Elias gave Dorian. It's pretty much empty: lazyass over here needs to clean out his cabinets. Dorian continues to talk as he makes the cocktails. ]

How have you been lately? After all, I doubt Melanie was the only person you ended up dealing with during that recent nonsense—you owe me a new shirt, by the way.

[ Elias is briefly taken by the mad notion of simply telling Dorian that usually his lovers don't survive when he throws them to the wolves. Never before, in fact. And that this is very strange for him.

Unlike your charming vampire of a boyfriend, all the visitors from my world were short, angry women bent on ruining my life. Detective Daisy Tonner broke my nose.

It's honestly a little impressive that you have two short, angry women bent on ruining your life, [ he points out, frown on his face as he continues making the cocktails. ] Does 'once is happenstance, twice is coincidence, three times is enemy action' apply to something like that?

[ Dorian, at least, is treating this as if it's a perfectly normal conversation and a perfectly normal situation despite the fact that this also is very strange for him. He's not a man for second chances. And yet, here they are. ]

I'm self-aware enough to admit that they were probably within their rights to try to murder me, given our shared history. As for enemy action-- they're under the influence of the Slaughter and the Hunt, respectively. Murder is in their nature.

Then I suppose it's lucky for you that if I had to pick something on the entity roulette wheel, I'd most likely be stuck with the End.

[ There's a pause, before Dorian teases in a sing-song voice, ]

[ He smiles, not commenting about the unavoidable cold death of the universe in which all the truly immortal must face. That makes for poor flirting. ]

[ And he pushes a gin sour over towards Elias. ]
